i have changed up my site style once more! it was a painful process but it ended up being something i really liked.
the most obvious change i think is the font. i switched from tahoma to inter. inter is the font i use at work so i'm very familiar with it. i initially used tahoma for this site because it gave off a stiff but informal vibe. it didn't feel corporate like other sans-serif fonts. however i felt the need to switch to inter because i needed a variable weight font for some of the typography i wanted to pull off. i also like to think it doesn't look as corporate as other fonts, so it's still a decent alternative.
instead of grey divider lines inside a white card, the layout of the site has become white boxes stacked on top of each other. i think that's cute.
i also made the navigation links a list of links instead of arranging them like buttons. also, they are placed in a white box, just like the rest of the text, unlike before, where they were placed outside the white box. to be honest i really like the aesthetic of putting extraneous content outside the box which delineates the main content. however i couldn't figure out what colors to use to ensure that the text colors are accessible. this is important to me not just to uphold accessibility on the web but also because my eyes are genuinely shit and if my glasses break, i myself should still be able to use my site.
i also found a good background color. it's just a bit darker than steel blue, but dark enough so that it goes well with the blue link color.
prior to this style i also tried to make sidebars. i was trying to emulate tiddlywiki, especially with the spartan day palette, which i am partial to. could not figure out how to make that look good either.
now that i've landed on a good style i'm satisfied with, i swear i'm gonna work on the actual site content sob emoji.
